Luis would love to be working, but he is doing a great job of finding fun things to do with Rene that don't involve anything indoor in public (no IMAX and no grocery shopping). Luis is a great parent for this job. He can actually go outside and play sports with Rene.
In these circumstances I want to hole up in my bed with chocolate and not talk to anyone. Soccer and tennis do not sound fun to me. It's not so much the neutropenia, though that makes it harder to hide from the truth -- it's that there really is nothing Luis and I can do to guarantee Rene's recovery. The terror and discouragement shut me down much of the weekend, though I did get Rene out to make sand castles on the beach and we had a great time. Also, some friends hosted Rene and I at a great get-together on Saturday and luckily none of them were sick so we all washed our hands for 20-seconds and hoped for the best.
