Air Canada had no pity on us and it cost us approximately 700 additional dollars to purchase the new tickets. If I think about it, it really bugs me because it's a waste of the donations that made up the gift from the BCCCPA. I can't change the situation, though, and today I managed to get trip interruption/cancellation insurance so we'll be covered if anything other than more influenza B causes us to change our plans.
I'm excited again.
I don't think Rene is that excited. He seems nervous about meeting all of the family members he doesn't know. I think he'll break the ice and be having fun in a matter of hours so I'm just trying to encourage him and tell him everyone's names so he'll be as ready as possible. There's no way to make up for years of lack of exposure to Spanish, so he'll just have to get through the hard part of starting to speak Spanish again. He can pronounce the sounds and he understand most of it, so I think he'll pick it up pretty quickly even though he was two when he left.
Thanks to those of you who encouraged us over the last week. It helped a lot.
