We still had a fun weekend. Rene and I made plans to go to Colour Me Mine to paint some ceramics and go out to lunch. I planned to splurge thanks to the donations that everyone has given so that I can make sure we focus on fun for Rene and making great memories. I think I'll never go back to being so frugal! It was lots of fun to have our special plan and it was really rewarding to see how excited Rene got.
On Friday when I came home, he shouted the instant I came in the door, "I'm so excited!" I figured he was about to eat ice cream or something.
"For what?" I asked.
"To go painting tomorrow."
We did have a wonderful time. I enjoyed sitting in the restaurant with him. It took some effort on his part, but now that he's eight he can actually sit still and wait for the food to be served. We even started making conversation. This apparently, will take practice. Then we picked whatever pieces we wanted at the ceramics place (not the ones that cost a small amount of money) and painted and painted.
The next day we all went to the RBCM. It was my first time. Now that Rene is eight Luis and I managed to get a bit of a look at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year photos (wow!) before Rene dragged us out. I liked the mammoth and the Star Wars Speeder in the forest ecosystem and Rene liked the hands-on submarine. I liked the place to sit in the submarine. That was kind to the parents to include a place to sit while our children poke around.
We still don't know when Rene's scans will be, but I expect to get an email soon about an appointment. It's a waiting game. I'm back at work on my new normal schedule of only 4 days a week. Wow! I LOVE IT! In the long run, which will win out? Splurging on fun activities in the weekend or working only four days a week. For now I don't have to decide.
Enjoy spring everyone. Let the dishes rot in the sink and the laundry pile up. Go out and play with your lovely families.
