I want to thank everyone for going to the effort of dragging their items in for sale and especially those who are planning, organizing, pricing, and manning the sales. It's a lot of work and they deserve extra hugs and complements (as appropriate) when you go in to shop. Here are the hugs from Luis, Rene, and me in electronic version:
HUG, HUG, HUG
It was kind of funny to see Rene's rusty bike (since replaced by a more shiny one) sitting in the very same room to which I used to bring people to meetings when I worked with the great team at the BC Arts Council. Back when I was the Admin Assistant for the Arts and Culture Division, it was my job to get the keys and let people in. Then, people would put the treats from the meetings onto my desk. I gained weight, especially on those home-made lemon bars! ...and I never imagined there would be a garage sale to help my family in the same room.
I called Luis over at the Ronald McDonald House while I was in there and he told me that one of the beautiful boys we've met lost his battle against relapsed neuroblastoma last week. I had a quiet cry and was glad for the privacy.
