The doctor is planning two rounds of the IV chemotherapy right off the bat. This will mean that his blood counts will drop and he will be out of school most of the time. Luis is battening down the hatches to become the main caregiver again. He will take him for chemo on Monday and I will go for my FIRST day at my NEW job as a Project Coordinator and try to impress people. Yikes.
We can expect the chemotherapy to work and the doctor is still going for a cure. We've been told that there are children who are chronically on and off of treatment for years and of course, we are always hoping for a breakthrough during that time. It does appear that the antibody treatment has helped him. Even though it did not completely prevent relapse, his relapses have been localized and the last one was controllable. still, no matter which way you slice it, this is terrible news.
