It's not as fun as going out to a concert, but it's not that bad. It doesn't hurt and the staff are really, really helpful, kind, and professional. The only thing that disapointed me about my donation was to see how small the bag was compared to the ones that have gone into Rene's little body over the years! The products that he received were the individual components, just the hemoglobin or just the platelettes, so if you divide my bag into portions, I barely touched the tip of the iceburg with my pinky finger!
As a first time donor they gave me a thank you letter that said that last year British Columbia imported 16,000 blood units from other provinces!
We're going again, as soon as our required wait time has passed and we'd love to take someone else with us, so please let me know if you'd like a kind and supporting first-time donating blood. It really is a simple way to save lives. According to Canadian Blood Services, 6 out of 10 of us will need blood products some time in our lives.
P.S. I'm loving the hugs that people have been giving me. Thank you!
