Transition Back to "Normal" Life
Rene has now completed his chimeric antibody treatment and gotten "negative" (which is totally positive) results on his scans and biopsy. Rene is no longer a cancer patient!
Luis will still be a stay-at-home dad until Rene enters kindergarten in September and his before and after school care starts up. Currently Rene has a part-time spot in his beloved Island Kids Academy day care and is enjoying being with his friends and teachers. (He's less of a pest at home, too, because he's not so bored.) Julia is almost able to work full-time now with the future visits to BC Children’s Hospital for scans coming three months apart. The Archaeology Branch is continuing to support her by allowing flexibility in the days she works.
The Rene’s Rainbows Committee has wrapped up its fundraising activities and transferred a balance to the family to help them make it until Luis can return to work.
